Back again with another one. This will be short and sweet.
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson
A bit of context:
I started this book in January 2021, got over halfway and then stopped. It wasn’t the book, it was me. I picked it up again last night (20th) and finished it this evening (21st) amidst work commitments.
Part of the reason I stopped: this book unearths a lot.
You may be thinking this is about others but nope, the mirror is lovingly pointed at you to see yourself warts and all.
I love the way Lindsay Gibson communicates in-depth psychology with real-life stories to drive the example home. You get a holistic understanding of the different concepts.
This is food for thought with practical insights.
Whilst it is an emotional rollercoaster, commit to doing the work and not only will you emerge with a greater understanding of self but also of others.
The final chapter on emotional maturity was an absolutely brilliant ending, leaving the aftertaste of optimism and hope for the future.
